Things I'm Loving now...

OK, sweet friend Natalie Roe, you inspired me and I'm copying you and creating my own "things I love right now" list. Don't we all have a wish list, and somehow sharing these "wants" with you makes my shopping urge somewhat satisfied—kinda like buying an item and then having buyers remorse (a big problem of mine..and my mothers!) only to return the item a few days later.

1) But this "wishlist item" would go UN-returned I promise! I just love this jcrew coat. I've been drooling over it for a while and am in desperate need of a winter coat! I haven't bought a new coat since COLLEGE. I repeat. I haven't bought a new coat since COLLEGE. So... mom or Bruner, feel free to surprise me with this for Christmas or sooner if your little heart desires!

2) Oh, and I love this fleece too! Can you tell I'm in need of outerwear?? I would take any color, size or shape.

3) I would also wear this vest. Just sayin'
4) I did recently splurge on some good boots so I can't complain too much. I saved up for these for a while (note: 1-2 years) and I adore them. I don't regret this purchase for a second and will wear these boots until they literally FALL off my feet!
5) I am loving these beautiful, colorful paintings by Sarah Otts! She's such a dear friend of mine and to say she's talented is an understatement. I'm currently redesigning her new blog so stay tuned...
6) Random I know, but I'm obsessed with Craisins. My husband and I put them in everything and they make our go-to weeknight salad so much better. I grab handfuls of these throughout the day—they really are addictive.
7) HALLOWEEN TIME and cute kiddos dressed up!
8) And speaking of flowers, those who know me well know I love Orchids and any plant that lives longer than a few months!

9) However, I'm a sucker for mums or anything that dies quickly too.

10) I'm loving our new pendant light in the den. We recently rearranged our den because it's where we spend all of our time these days. It's such a cozy room and perfect for all of Calder's toys!

11) ...which leads to another WANT: a square rug to go under the breakfast table here. I'm thinking a bold stripe like this but not sure yet.

But sweet Calder loves the space as is for now so we'll see!

That's it for now and this post is to-be-continued. Thanks for inspiring me Natalie and I feel better already!

Oh, wallpaper, wallpaper, wallpaper

I'm in love with wallpaper these days. One of my friends hosted a party a few weeks ago and I couldn't get over her adorable wet bar. Thanks so much Celeste for sending me these pics! I'm dying to wallpaper a small room in my house (maybe a bathroom or the foyer)—if I could ever get around to it. I love how she did the ceiling too. These pics don't do it justice but hopefully you get the idea.

And here's a bathroom my mom did for a client in Virginia recently. I just LOVE this.
Wallpaper is Cowtan and Tout, Sevigney

Here are some other spaces that inspire me. There is definitely a bathroom theme going on...

I also these love rooms that experimented with wallpaper outside the BR!

That's it for now. I'm nursing a cold from a long weekend in the Monteagle mountains but it was totally worth it. Such a beautiful, sentimental and FUN wedding celebrating one of my favorite couples in the world. See my post about Mar (now MAH!) here. Truly an "epic weekend" in the words of Abbey Mitchell. Congrats Mary Allyn and Stephen! I love y'all!!

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

This is one of my very favorite quotes, and it just so happened to be my mom's senior quote in her high school yearbook. Wise words like these never go out of style. And here's another one just because it's been that kind of day!

I couldn't agree more this quote. Hope you're having a wonderful week, and yes, enjoy a damn cupcake! I actually did this morning! :)

Magazine hoarding & recent inspiration

I have a confession to make. I'm a magazine hoarder.

Although I've tried to organize them throughout the house, I can't bring myself to throw them away. I love going through old issues (some go back to the 90's!) and no matter how techy this world gets—there is something about a printed magazine that will NEVER go out of style. Last night I curled up in bed with my magazines and ipad, and had so much fun looking up some of artists featured in the latest issue of Garden & Gun. Here are several of the amazing artists I came across...

Meet Kiki Slaughter, a contemporary artist based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her paintings are beautiful and I love her use of color.

Meet New Orleans artist Rebecca Rebouché. Yes, that's her on the cover of G&G.

I love her whimsy-filled paintings as well as her story, and how she was discovered by Anthropologie. Check out her blog, website and her artwork. She also has an Etsy store that has so much to offer.

And finally, meet the incredibly talented duo, Shovels & Rope.

I'm in love with this band. Read the full article from G&G here. I love their story as well: "On a typical night before a May show in West Virginia, Shovels & Rope tandem Cary Ann Hearst and her husband, Michael Trent, spent the night in a Walmart parking lot. No, they weren’t stuffed into shopping carts or folded into the backseat of a car. They lived it up in the back of their van, replete with a queen-size bed, a television, and a good bottle of red wine."

Listen to them here and you'll discover they are the real deal. My favorite song as of now is Lay Low. I could listen to it over and over again. Aren't they amazing? Their music makes me miss home and the mountains for some reason.

That's it for now. Happy hump day everyone!

Today is Calder's 9 month birthday! The picture collage above sums Calder up pretty well. She loves to clap, clap clap and blow bubbles!
