yellow + gray

Although I don't use it as often as I would like, yel­low and gray will always be one of my favorite color combinations. Sarah from The Happy Enve­lope cre­ated these gor­geous wed­ding invi­ta­tions for a des­ti­na­tion wed­ding in Napa Val­ley.  She paired ele­gant script and serif fonts with beau­ti­ful pat­terns for an over­all design that is both laid back and sophis­ti­cated – and com­pletely stunning.

The entire suite is wrapped in oys­ter gray twine paired with a neu­tral khaki enve­lope and hand-lettered black ink calligraphy.

From Sarah: This wed­ding is a Napa Val­ley des­ti­na­tion event.  The upbeat color palette of yel­low, gray and taupe brings a sense of cheer to the whole suite.  All pieces were let­ter­press printed on weighty con­ser­va­tion board — thick enough to allow for let­ter­press print­ing on both sides of the invi­ta­tion.  All pieces were printed in a warm putty gray on the front, with var­i­ous pat­terns printed in warm yel­low ink on the back of the invi­ta­tion, the reply card, and the hangtag.

The bride wanted a laid-back, Cal­i­for­nia feel but with an under­stated, sim­ple aes­thetic.  The invi­ta­tion itself is fairly under­stated on the front with a mix­ture of type and a light dot­ted line motif.  The punch to this invi­ta­tion is the bold pat­tern print­ing on the reverse side of select pieces.

Megan from Pink Piggy Design col­lab­o­rated with pho­tog­ra­pher Kate Osborne and other Utah-based wed­ding ven­dors on a fun photo shoot full of 4th of July-themed wed­ding ideas. In keep­ing with the sum­mer hol­i­day, there are lots of stripes, twine, and some of the most delicious-looking mini pies I’ve ever seen!

It's the little things in life that make us happy right? Well, yesterday as I was addressing baby shower invitations, I realized I had run out of my return address stickers. Because I refuse to write out my address 65 times, I went straight to etsy and ordered a new custom return address stamp design. I immediately fell in love with NoteTrunk designs. You must check them out. Their designs are cute and original...not to mention very affordable!

I can't remember when and how I discovered B Wise Papers, but I do remember instantly bookmarking their website for future reference. I love their designs — so clean and simple! Aren't these cards adorable?

Bringing the Art to the Cart

A good friend emailed me this incredible DIY blog yesterday, Centsational Girl, and I was hooked. I love DIY projects and have refinished and painted a lot of the furniture in our house, so of course, I fell in love with her ideas and her before and after pics. I love bargains and making something ugly beautiful again, so if you're like me, you must check this blog out.

On Centsational Girl I saw a link to Big Cartel – the simple shopping cart for artists. Don't I feel out-of-the-loop! I didn't know there was another ETSY-type of online site.

I could spend HOURS on this site, browsing through paper goods and other handmade items, but I need to get back to work. Maybe someday I can start my own line of papergoods for sale on sites like this...hmmm....really must get to work now. Thought I'd share this with you in case you wanted to waste enjoy some online retail therapy this morning.

Adorable Save The Dates

Wow. I found these save the dates on one my favorite blogs, Oh So Beautiful Paper, and couldn't help but share. I'm in love with every single detail as well...
"Megan from Ruby the Fox sent over the save the dates for her wed­ding this fall, and I’m com­pletely in love with every. sin­gle. detail.  From the lovely cal­lig­ra­phy to the zig zag stitch­ing to the chevron stripe enve­lope liner – the entire con­cept had me at hello.  And even with all of those details, Megan man­ages to pull every­thing together into a save the date that is cre­ative yet sim­ple and ele­gant in its presentation."

From Megan: When I got engaged in Octo­ber to my amaz­ing boyfriend of seven years, I knew I would be design­ing my own paper suite!  With an Octo­ber Chicago wed­ding in the works, and a color palette of “muted Autumn” I knew I wanted the Save the Dates to por­tray our fun per­son­al­i­ties but also be a pre­view to what our eclec­tic, organic wed­ding would bring.

The inserts were let­ter­press printed with grey ink onto basic white lug­gage tags and tied with inex­pen­sive jute twine.  The cal­lig­ra­phy was done by the insanely tal­ented Angelique Phillips of Angelique Ink.
