For the People Project

I recently saw For the People Project featured on one of my favorite blogs, Urban Grace, and I couldn't not share this. What a great way to help others, and I love their handmade verse cards.

From their website:
For The People Project is part of a non-profit organization that employs recovering drug and alcohol addicts to individually hand paint and hand stamp its Hand Made Card and Journal lines. We not only provide a job for those working to overcome life controlling addictions, but we also teach life skills that our employees will use as they transition back into society following addiction rehabilitation.

For The People Project gives 100% of the profit from the sale of its products back to non-profit organizations that work with recovering drug and alcohol addicts.  We partner with multiple organizations that share our vision to see men and women completely restored from addiction and we want to support their programs that are changing lives.

Check out their adorable handmade journals!

Stray Dog Designs

Like I've told y'all before in my "Like Mother, Like Daughter" post, my mom is a huge source of inspiration for me, and is a very talented interior designer in Chattanooga (Susan LeSourd Interiors). She has been raving about Stray Dog Designs for years. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the owners Jane and Billy Pritchard are from Chattanooga, but their creative, handmade pieces are one-of-a-kind!!

This pink drum pendant is in "my room" at home in Chattanooga...you know how that is. You leave home and over time, "your" room becomes whatever it is your mother wants it to be! :) But this pink shade is so fun and makes the entire space come alive!

I adore this green pendant!

I had a hard time narrowing down my favorite pieces, so this post may require a part 2. Thanks Stray Dog for your handmade, fabulous pieces and congrats on all of your press!  I love the Stray Dogma story below. They're right... different is good!

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

This is one of my VERY favorite Bible verses and it was read in our wedding. It reminds me to slow down, take a deep breath and be thankful for all of my many blessings.

Whew...what a week it has been! I got in a small car accident Monday morning on my way to work (no worries, I am fine), but it definitely scared me since it was on the Bayway...which is not the place you want to get into a wreck! Since then, I've been dealing with insurance companies, rental cars, etc. etc.. Thankfully it wasn't my fault, but still a pain to deal with. With deadlines piling up and the busy chaos of life in general —  I need to remind myself of this verse every day!

I hope you REJOICE in the Lord today and always...

kathleen & jeremy

One of my favorite things about blogging is finding strangers who share the same interests and passions as you do, and following their creative endeavors and inspirations. I stumbled upon Kathleen and Jeremy's blog a while ago, and it stood out to me as refreshingly authentic.

Kathleen has a way with words. I related to her post about life as a freelance artist. Wow. I identified with the ups and downs of having your own little design business (although I'm sure her's isn't as "little" as mine!) Check out her work and the post that made me realize I'm not the only person who feels this way!

All you freelancers and aspiring freelancers out there must check it out.

I still have a lot to learn and figure out regarding my new career (and how to balance it with living life), but I'm feeling good about the work I'm creating....which is huge step.

Here are some samples of their fabulous work...

Fresh Appeal

I love this home! It was featured in Atlanta Homes in October 2009, and I have referred to it many times since then. Meridy King (below) designed it, and the french flair and soft colors make me melt. Enjoy!
