Christine + Ian’s Woodland Wedding Invitations

My favorite invitation blog, Oh So Beautiful Paper, featured these invites as their favorite of 2011. I'd have to agree. They are pretty amazing! These were inspired by the woodland setting of their wedding venue, creating an incredibly cool laser cut invitation with pop-up cut out details!

 From Christine: Our wedding will be in the woods on Ian’s parent’s home.  From the first day of brainstorming, we both agreed that we wanted our wedding to take place amongst the trees.  For the past few months we’ve spent nearly every weekend at the property, building and landscaping to make what we hope will be an incredibly beautiful wedding location.

We wanted the invitations to give our guests a sneak peek into our wedding, without revealing too much.  We used a laser cutting machine to create a pop-up forest that surrounds the headline message on our invitations – Join Us in the Woods.  The laser cut cover stock was then sewn to laser cut kraft paper for a cool multidimensional effect.

DIY Tutorial: Rubber Stamp Edge Painted Save the Date Tags

I found this post on one of my favorite blogs, Oh So Beautiful Paper, and had to share this with you...

 It’s the ladies of Anti­quaria, back with another fab­u­lous and cre­ative DIY project for you!  This week they’re here with instruc­tions on how to cre­ate a rub­ber stamp save the date tag!
At Anti­quaria, we love every­thing vin­tage!!  In this save the date DIY, we were inspired by the look of old lug­gage and par­cel tags.  There is some­thing very lovely and famil­iar about this tag shape but to have it pro­fes­sion­ally die cut can be quite costly.  We empha­sized the shape with “edge paint­ing” using a very nifty and easy trick!!

Step One: Cut your kraft paper into a 4.5“x6” rec­tan­gle.  Ink your save the date stamp (we used our “Rib­bons and Ban­ners” stamp) with your desired ink and make a print on your paper.  Be sure to press evenly on a hard work sur­face.  Let the ink dry overnight.

Step Two: Next, draw 1.5″ diag­o­nal lines on the top cor­ners of the save the date.  Also draw a small dot in the cen­ter, about 3/4″ from the top.  Once you have your mark­ings in place, cut off the cor­ners with a pair of scis­sors or an X-Acto knife & ruler.  Punch a 1/8″ hole where you have placed the dot. Insert a small craft grom­met and install using a grom­met tool.

 
Step Three:  Using the same or a coor­di­nat­ing ink color, drag edges smoothly through the pad to cre­ate the “edge painted” effect.  Let dry overnight.

Step Four:  Assem­ble the save the date. Tie twine or rib­bon through the brad and add fun postage and cal­lig­ra­phy to bring it all together!!

Kraft Card Stock, cut into 4.5“x6” rectangles
Stamp Pad (we used navy)
Pen­cil
Scis­sors or X-acto & Self Heal­ing Craft Mat
1/8″ Hole Punch
A6 Envelopes
Gray Striped Twine

Red, White + Blue Wedding Inspiration

Ok, I know I'm a little late on this post since July 4th was over a week ago, but I couldn't resist posting this since we are still in the patriotic month of July! I found these fabulous pictures on one of my very favorite invitation blogs — Oh So Beautiful Paper  — you must check it out when you have time. Megan from Pink Piggy Design col­lab­o­rated with pho­tog­ra­pher Kate Osborne and other Utah-based wed­ding ven­dors on a fun photo shoot full of 4th of July-themed wed­ding ideas. In keep­ing with the sum­mer hol­i­day, there are lots of stripes, twine, and some of the most delicious-looking mini pies I’ve ever seen!

National Stationery Show

Did I mention that I love stationery? Given it is what I do, I could look at these pictures for hours! Since the 2011 National Sta­tionery Show is com­ing up in just a few days, I thought I'd feature some of my favorite booths and designs from last year's show. I found all of these images on my favorite stationery blog, Oh So Beautiful Paper...

Ladies of Let­ter­press, Pis­ta­chio Press, Thomas Print­ers, May Day Stu­dio, Paper Mill Designs, Ink & Iron, Hazel and Vio­let, Dandy Lion Press, and Fly­wheel Press all had wonderful designs!

Night Owl Paper Goods had a beautiful booth full of their sig­na­ture wood veneer sta­tionery and let­ter­press cards, as well as new note­books and a sneak peek at their 2011 calendars.

Avie Designs pulled together a won­der­ful col­lec­tion of cards, invi­ta­tions, and gift wrap..

Above is the Sycamore Street Press booth, Eva and Kirk used char­coal gray fab­ric back­drops and a sweet paper gar­land to high­light their new let­ter­press cards, prints, and 2011 poster-style calendar.

Adorable Save The Dates

Wow. I found these save the dates on one my favorite blogs, Oh So Beautiful Paper, and couldn't help but share. I'm in love with every single detail as well...
"Megan from Ruby the Fox sent over the save the dates for her wed­ding this fall, and I’m com­pletely in love with every. sin­gle. detail.  From the lovely cal­lig­ra­phy to the zig zag stitch­ing to the chevron stripe enve­lope liner – the entire con­cept had me at hello.  And even with all of those details, Megan man­ages to pull every­thing together into a save the date that is cre­ative yet sim­ple and ele­gant in its presentation."

From Megan: When I got engaged in Octo­ber to my amaz­ing boyfriend of seven years, I knew I would be design­ing my own paper suite!  With an Octo­ber Chicago wed­ding in the works, and a color palette of “muted Autumn” I knew I wanted the Save the Dates to por­tray our fun per­son­al­i­ties but also be a pre­view to what our eclec­tic, organic wed­ding would bring.

The inserts were let­ter­press printed with grey ink onto basic white lug­gage tags and tied with inex­pen­sive jute twine.  The cal­lig­ra­phy was done by the insanely tal­ented Angelique Phillips of Angelique Ink.

cutest baby shower invitation EVER

Baby shower invitations are on my mind...not because I'm pregnant (sorry mom!), but because I'm in the process of designing several ones for friends. When I saw this invitation designed by Dinara - I just about melted! She designed these hand lettered invi­ta­tions for her upcom­ing baby shower!  Dinara is expect­ing a baby girl in May, so when it came time for baby shower invi­ta­tions it was only fit­ting that Dinara apply her illus­tra­tion and hand let­ter­ing skills to the design.



Dinara worked with Lau­rie from Lucky Bee Press, who pro­vided 2-color let­ter­press print­ing in pink and yel­low.  Aren’t they adorable?

So sweet!  Thanks Dinara and Oh So Beautiful Paper for this discovery!
