Our Nursery

The nursery is finally finished! I'm so happy with how it turned out, and now we are officially ready for Baby Binion! We didn't have to repaint the room, and I'm so glad we originally chose to paint this room Benjamin Moore's Celery Salt. It's perfect for a gender neutral nursery, and I love how the white looks against it.

I absolutely adore this handmade mobile. It adds so much to the room and aren't these little sheep adorable?

My major splurge item was the glider. I got it from Serena & Lily, and fell in love with it online. It's SO comfortable, and I know it's a chair I'll be spending a lot of time in. Also, I figured in the future, I'll love this chair in any room in the house!

I found the mirror and pair of white sconces at Stray Dog Designs in April, before I even knew I was pregnant. I bought them at their Flea Sale in Chattanooga, and couldn't pass up the deal. I'm so glad I did because they are perfect in the nursery! The green adds a pop of color to the room, and I love the playful designs.

The dresser is a family antique that we repainted. It was in my room as a child, as well as my moms.

We also bought these little birds at Stray Dog Design. I just couldn't resist! The little frog is from the handmade napkins at my baby shower. My sister-in-law sent them all the way from New York!

Now all we need is our baby!:) Just 6 more weeks left. Can't believe time has gone by so fast!

Around the House

OFFICE UPDATE:
Nailheads are finally done! I bought the nailheads at a local fabric store (Cotton Capers). They are originally from D.A.D.S. and the perfect size and color. For only 5 cents each, this custom touch cost me less than $15. Even though it was tedious to do, it was very worth it if you ask me! Click here to see Home Office Round 1 and Round 2 posts. We've come a long way!

I recently had this slipcover made for our sofa. At first, I was hesitant to go with the stark white, but I know I can bleach it if when an accident occurs!

And you know how I love bartering! While Jackie was here measuring the sofa, she mentioned she needed new business cards. I told her that I was a graphic designer, and one thing led to another. So, while she was measuring I designed these little cards, and she left with a CD ready to take to a printing shop. I was quite excited about this exchange, so I had to share that tid-bit of info :) Give Jackie a call if you live around the Mobile area. She is wonderful to work with and did such a great job!
I bought the fabric at Hobby Lobby (yes, HOBBY LOBBY). It is white duck and cost a whopping $7.99/yd. Then, I printed off this coupon, which is available every other week. See below for my custom slipcover on a budget!
Lovin' my new Stray Dog lamp!! It's currently in a little reading corner in our bedroom. The striped shade makes me happy every time I walk into the room.
And finally, here's a shot of our herb garden's growth. Click here to see the before shots...
And Believe me, there are many other rooms in our house that are not "blog worthy" — these are just a few updates we've done recently! :)  Have a wonderful day!!

happy times

Nothing is better than going home. We were in Chattanooga for a long Easter weekend, and we had such a wonderful, WONDERFUL time...

Mom and I went to the Stray Dog Designs Flea Party. I found a few treasures I couldn't pass up, and since many of the items were slightly damaged with a scratch or dent, the discounts were huge! Not sure what I'm gonna do with my mirror, two standing lamps and pair of sconces, but again, the deals were too good to pass up. I love Stray Dogs and have featured them before in this post. Jane and Billy Pritchard are from Chattanooga, and their creative, handmade pieces are one-of-a-kind!

And how cute is their daughter Franny? I love her spunky, colorful outfit! I asked Franny what her favorite thing was in the store, and she said this box, so of course, I had to take a picture...
Immediately when I saw this lamp, I knew it was SOLD. I love the striped shade!
I love this picture of mom and me!:) Stray Dog Design junkies!
Don't these bright colors make you happy? Check out Stray Dog Designs facebook page for more pictures and information...
Here's a picture of me with Lisa (the fabulous Stray Dogs display designer) and Jeanie (my favorite hair stylist in the world)! I first went to Jeanie in junior school. Jeanie and her husband Jeff opened and started THE hair salon in Chattanooga, Lu Lu's. Jeanie did my hair for our wedding and every special event growing up...I just love her and have thought about driving 6 hours just for her to do my hair! She's that good.
and here we are with the famous Billy Pritchard

loading up the car with treasures we couldn't pass up...

And I had to share some pics of mom's Stray Dog pieces scattered throughout her home. I adore this light fixture!

These pics taken on my iphone don't even begin to do it justice...
hanging out with the hubs...
Dinner with the whole fam. This picture makes me happy!
Yes, we still get easter baskets (or fabulous blue beach bags) with fun goodies in them. Bruner was pumped about his Lowes gift certificate, and I love my blue lamp!
Deana got some stationery designed by yours truly!:)
...and finally on our long drive back to Mobile, I was reading Atlanta Homes. Yes, I'm a dork who reads magazines with a pen, circling things I love and new artists I want to look-up. BTW, I discovered a new artist, Sally Benedict, who I will feature another time, but her colors inspire me. But, I saw Stray Dogs lamp featured on this page, and I'm so pumped I got my lamps for 80% off:) Yeah, they may have a little scratch or dent (hint the major discount), but that gives it a little character, right?

I think so. Now back to the real world :)
